Gettting a domain name so that people can find you easily

A domain name is your web address.
It is what identifies you on the web.
Examples of domain names are amazon.com, yahoo.com, pti.net, sleddog.org...
A domain name is comprised of a name and an extent extension. The main extension are .com, .net and .org
There are other extensions available like, the country extension: .us, .fr, .ca... and other ones like .biz...
It is not mandatory to have a domain name, but it is better.
To use a domain name, you have to register it.
You are not allowed to register a domain name that is registered by someone else.

The main reason to get a domain name is to guarantee that your e-mail and web site address will not change even if you change of provider so that the investment you make in promoting that name is not going to be wasted.

Getting space on a server so to publish your site

In order to be visible by the public, your site has to reside on a server that responds to the requests of the public 24 hours a day.
Each server comes with a certain amount of disk space and certain features depending on the size of your site and the features you want to implement.
Our sites are hosted in Huntsville, Alabama and have a 99+ up time.
We feel these hosting plans are reasonably priced for the features and customer support provided.

Designing the pages and graphics

After you have a domain name and a hosting plan, the first thing is to make an initial design of the site.
We will first analyse your needs and expectations. This is the most important part of the process.
Then we will propose you a general plan for the site and we will make a first draft.
At this point, we will ask you to provide us with the elements we need for the content of the site: Text, photos, sound, logos...
Unless you have very specific needs and you want certain things done by somebody else, we will handle all the tasks:
Scanning pictures, HTML authoring, script and database programing...
For people in the Fairbanks area or on a special arrangement, we can take digital pictures of whatever you want for your web site.

Promoting and maintaining the site

After your site is published, it still has to be publicized so that people can find you.
One way to do this is through registration with different search engines.
We will do this and also advise you on the adds you may want to put to promote your site.
Finally, the site has to be maintained.
Maintenance can be the simple update of prices or other items, or the addition of pictures, items, even the the addition of whole new pages.
This flexibility allows you to start initially with a small initial design and a maintenance plan that allows you to progressively add to your site, thus spreading out the cost.
